FAQs

Q

How old should my child be to begin Irish Dancing?

A

New dancers do best if they already in school or (almost) 5 years old. We accept dancers ages 4-12 for our beginner program. We are happy to offer a Fall and Spring Preschool Sampler for the smallest children interested in Irish Dance but aren't old enough to begin lessons just yet! We accept children ages 2.5-5 for our Preschool Sampler.

Q

What will my child need to begin Irish Dancing?

A

New dancers in all Beginner Classes will need to purchase Irish Dancing shoes through our studio once they begin lessons. Dancers may wear any t-shirt and shorts/skorts to class. In the winter months dancers may wear leggings - no jeans or baggy sweatpants please. For safety purposes all hair must be pulled up and away from the face and no dangling jewelry is allowed. Your dancer will also need to bring a water bottle to class.

Dancers attending our Preschool Sampler and Try It Out Camps do not need to purchase Irish Dancing shoes for those programs.

Q

How much do classes cost?

A

Tuition for Beginner Classes range depending on the length of the class. 60-minute classes are $50/month and 45-minute classes are $45/month.

Tuition for the Preschool Sampler is $30.

Tuition for Summer Try It Out Camps is $75.

Q

What events will my child get to participate in through Irish Dance?

A

In your dancer's beginner year they will be able to participate in events such as the Beginner Recital (May or June), the St. Patrick's Day Parade (March), and the Ceili (February). The Ceili is McGing's Annual Gala Fundraiser - we like to refer to it as a wedding...just without the bride and groom!

In future years your dancer will get to participate in events such as McGing's Annual Recital called Christmas in Killarney (December), the Celtic Festival (September) and the Cincinnati Feis (October or November). The Cincinnati Feis is a dance competition hosted by the McGing Irish Dancers.

Each year the McGing Irish Dancers dance at Irish Heritage Night with the Cincinnati Reds. Dancers get to dance on the field before and after the game and it always is a fun night for the entire family! This year Irish Heritage Night is Sunday, September 18th, 2016.
